"Little Stars" Baby Room

Staff to child ratio – 1 staff: 3 babies

The latest addition to the setting is our new purpose built Baby Room. It has been opened for just over a year now. and due to its success has been extended to cater for up to ten, 0-2 year olds.

We have an extensive range of resources to stimulate and arouse curiosity in each of our babies. Each baby has their own individual routine this is completed where possible by the child's keyperson.

At the end of each day all parents of children up to 2 yrs of age will take home a 'Daily record sheet'. This informs parents of what their child has done throughout the day.

"Shiny Stars" Toddler Room

Staff to child ratio – 1 staff: 4 children

In the Toddler Room we operate on a 1:4 adult to child ratio. We have the potential to cater for 20 children during any one session.

Our toddler room offers a large spacious area for our toddlers to explore and learn through play. In an environment filled with encouragement, your child will experience the early successes he or she needs to grow and develop independence. We aim to promote a safe learning environment, where children have the opportunity to learn new and exciting activities. We have an enthusiastic team who work closely with parents as their children settle into nursery.

The children have access to a café style snack system which means that snack is always available for them throughout the session and children determine when they want their snack. Toddlers are supported and encouraged to be independent, children are supported when they are being ‘toilet trained’ and we have a separate nappy changing area. The washing facilities are all at the children’s level. There is also a quiet corner which is our designated area for those that require sleep.

"Bright Stars" Pre–school Room

Staff to child ratio – 1 staff: 8 children

Children learn through play activities are vary on a daily basis and practitioners plan weekly ensuring individual children’s needs are met.

Each of our toy and activities are set at the children’s level to allow them to choose what they wish to play with and we move around the room helping each child and making the most of every opportunity. Our room offers more structure to allow the children to get ready for school.

Activities include:

• Sand & Water exploration play
• Mark making – Early writing skills
• Messy & Creative play
• Home Corner – Role play
• Circle Time – Using visual aids/puppets/Good Morning/Afternoon songs
• Free choice - Self chosen activities

Our aims:

• To meet the needs of our children and to support them in fulfilling their full potential.

• To provide a stimulating environment which engages and supports children’s learning.
• To support children's personal, social and emotional development (PSED) by giving them opportunities to develop their self-confidence and self-awareness.
